The Shree Swasthani Brata Katha that were recited and listened devoutly by Hindu devotees ended today.
Shree Swasthani Brata Katha is a series of stories narrated by Lord Kumar to Agasthya Muni, a saint. The story is mostly concentrates around Lord Shiva. Shree Swasthani Brata Katha is also called as Skanda Puran.

Swasthani is the Hindu Goddess who is very generous to all her devotees. She always fulfills wishes of all those who worship her with a pure heart and a full devotion. Goddess Swasthani is believed to be four-handed goddess with charka, trishul, sword and lotus in each of her hands.

Shree Swasthani Brata Katha starts from the full moon day of Poush and goes on series of 31 chapters for 31 days till next full moon day on Magh. During this lunar month, story of Goddess Swasthani is recited in most of the houses in Nepal.
And today, the reciting of Shree Swasthani Brata Katha is coming to an end by organizing special religious programs. Traditionally, there is a trend of fasting and worshipping Swasthani at Salinadi on the outskirts of the Katmandu Valley. In Saliandi, devotees that come from various districts start fasting from full moon day of Poush for a month.

Today evening, organizing Aswomeghh Yagya at Saliandi the Madhavnarayan Fair is coming to an end. There is a religious belief that worshipping at Pashupati, Gaurighat, Ganesh Temple, Salinadi and other places where the body parts of Satidevi had fallen, then people would get liberation after death. A large number of devotees gather at the places during a month period, starting from Poush Sukla Purnima to Magh Sukla Purnima as per the lunar calendar.
