ANS Events on April 22, Earth Day Cleanup & Interaction program with Journalist Sigdel (copy)

This is a reminder about the two separate ANS events scheduled on Saturday, April 22nd, 2017, and we all appreciate your continued participation and support to ANS and its periodic activities.

Event 1:

Earth Day Clean Up  9 am to 12 noon at Woodbridge VA

 ANS invites all interested individuals and families to participate in the cleaning of the Pond near the commuter parking lot (location close on the occasion of Globally celebrated Earth Day 2017).

Time:  9 am to 12 noon

When:  Saturday, April 22nd, 2017

Where: Pond near 2200 Tacketts Mill Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22192-3012

Event 2:

 Interaction Program With Nepali Journalist And An Author Krishna Prasad Sigdyal 2 pm – 4 pm

The America Nepal Society (ANS) invites everyone to participate in an interaction program with a Nepali journalist, environmentalist, and an author Krishna Prasad Sigdyal. He recently authored “Nepal – it’s Neighbors and the World”. Journalist Sigdyal is currently in the DMV area and ANS would like to thank him for his availability to talk about his new release book.

Time: 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

When: Saturday, April 22nd, 2017

Where: Oakwood Apartment Complex, Falls Church – Business Room

501 Roosevelt Boulevard, Falls Church, VA 22044

Parking: Parking will be plenty within the business office at the apartment complex. The apartment also provides free Shuttle Bus Service from East Falls Church Metro Station (Orange and Silver Lines).

About the Author:

Krishna Prasad Sigdyal is a veteran journalist, author, environmentalist and Founder and President of the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists. Apart from his journalism career, he is also a successful businessman in Nepal. His recent book – Nepal, Neighbors and the World – is his fourth in a series that has received wide critical acclaim in Nepal. According to the Kathmandu Post, his new book has been coined as “an important publication for the current economic and political context of Nepal”. Over the years, Mr. Sigdyal has also published numerous articles on environment, current affairs and other subjects in Nepali newspapers, Journals and books. In that capacity, he has also served on several national and international commissions in environmental issues.

Following are some of the positions he has held in various capacity is a testament to his commitment to environment and development in Nepal:

i) Founder and past President, NEPAL Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ); ii) Member, Board of Directors, National News Agency of Nepal (RSS); iii) Member, Environmental Protection Council, National Planning Commission of Nepal; iv) Member, National Development Council, Government of Nepal; v) Member, Commission on Education and Communication, World Conservation Union (IUCN), Gland, Switzerland; vi) Member, National Preparatory Committee, United National conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) – 1992.
