Sad Demise of NPPA Honorary Patron Dr. Satya Mohan Joshi

Dear NPPA Patrons, Life Members, and Community Members, Jwajalapa,

We, at Nepa Pasa Pucha Amerikaye (NPPA), are extremely saddened by the demise of NPPA Honorary Patron centenarian Dr. Satya Mohan Joshi. He passed away in Lalitpur, Nepal on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 103 years. He was born on May 12, 1920 in Lalitpur, Nepal.

Dr. Joshi is survived by his wife Mrs. Radha Devi Joshi, three sons, three daughters, three daughters-in-law, three sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dr. Joshi is a very respected and renowned Nepalese & Nepalbhasa writer and a scholar. He was also the Chancellor of Nepalbhasa Academy. Dr. Joshi authored 60 plus publications in Nepalese and Nepalbhasa which covered the areas of culture, history, and literature. For his immaculate work in literature, he was honored with prestigious Madan Puraskar three times. Dr. Joshi played a key role to establish Rashtriya Nachghar and was the first Director of the Archaeological and Cultural Department in 1959.

Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved Joshi family for their irreparable loss. It is a loss of the nation. Our prayers are with them at this tough time of grief and pray for the eternal and heavenly peace of the departed soul.
